Forza Horizon First Look
We take a first look at the latest title in the Forza series – Forza Horizon. Taking a new direction with the game has Microsoft driven the series to further success? Watch this vid to find out!
Having been massive fans of the Forza series we were concerned with the change in direction with Forza Horizon. With developers Playground games behind the wheel the series looks set to be driving into a totally new direction. Even so, as soon as we got our hands on the game, all worries were put aside, as we were presented with one of the freshest and most enjoyable driving games we’ve played for some time.

The biggest change to Forza in Horizon is that you are now in the game as part of the horizon festival, rather than racing on standard tracks, and this festival acts as a sort of home environment. You can return there to buy new cars, perform upgrades and more importantly advance the story. You are free to roam the environment but on the way you’ll come across various races and challenges for you compete in, with the music festival feel throughout the game.
Forza Horizon, is a completely open-world game. A huge map has been created, based on Colorado, with the fantastic roads and environments from the real word counterpart. And with this it introduces you to off-road racing. Offering new cars and driving experiences that we haven’t seen in previous Forza games.

Forza Horizon is also a story led game. You’re introduced to characters, with the opening drive being a race against the current champion, Darius Flynt. With the new gameplay the games doesn’t really offer a standard arcade mode, but it does still open up to be a brilliant multi player title.
After playing the first few hours of the game we’ve been suitably impressed with what’s on offer. Fans of the standard Forza titles will be in for a bit of shock with the changes, as it’s definitely not another standard sequel. But that aside it’s still a brilliant racing game that offers some unique gameplay and driving experiences, and if you’re looking for an open world racing title you can’t get much better than this.
