The basics

The Nokia C6-01 is the smallest Symbian ^3 smartphone to date, offering a 3.2-inch touchscreen display and a tough metal casing. It's also packed with features, making it one of the more well equipped mid-range smartphones.

The good

The 3.2-inch screen on the Nokia C6-01 is one of the best we've seen on a Nokia smartphone. It features the company's new CBD (ClearBlack Display) technology, offering deeper and more vivid colours. It also suits the phone perfectly, giving it a small footprint than no other Symbian ^3 can match. It's much more pocket friendly than the Nokia N8, proving both shorter and narrower, although it is slightly thicker. Build quality is excellent, with a metal screen surround and an aluminium battery cover helping to give the Nokia C6-01 a robust feel. It may be affordable, but costs have not been cut at the cost of quality. Despite being pitch at the middle of the smartphone market, the Nokia C6-01 is still packed with features. There's an 8-megapixel camera offering full focus, along with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and 3G. You can also use microSD cards of up to 32GB, offering more than enough storage space for your favourite songs and photographs.

The bad

The smaller screen on the Nokia C6-01 makes it slightly more fiddly to use than the Nokia N8 – especially when trying to tap something in the very bottom corner of the screen. That said, it's more than usable, and very rarely a problem. iPhone and Android users may find the Symbian ^3 OS a little clunky and time consuming to get used to, but it's very customisable and easy to set up in a way that suits you best.

The bottom line

Overall, we like the Nokia C6-01. It may not set the world alight with its features, but it's comprehensively equipped, looks great and is affordable. There's very little to dislike.
