The basics

Bondi is something of a gadget you never really knew you needed, or even wanted or that matter. Essentially, it's a hanger for your smartphone in the shape of a body. The trick is, you wrap the silicone arms around your phone it hold sit firmly in place, while the coat-hangar head allows you to hang it from just about anywhere.

The good

The Bondi is strong and tough. Made from a special silicon formula it's been designed to be pulled and twisted into a variety of shapes. A book full of potential uses is including, with such ideas as holding your smartphone while charging, which we've used it mainly for, holding your phone while on a treadmill at the gym, to dangling the phone from your jeans, a baby stroller, or even from your laptop screen so you can make video calls easier. Then there are other uses, such as a cable tidy, door jam, a toothpaste holder, a curtain tie-back, just about any places where a spare pair of extra hands could come in handy. Sure, many of these may seem a little gimmicky and we can get around them without forking out £15 for the privilege but Bondi is a handy little fella and we've found ourselves using it more than we thought we would. We like the fact that it also comes in a whole host of colours, so you're not limited to plain old black, and can colour coordinate with the flavour of the day.

The bad

There is little to fault here as it does a pretty good job of being a gadget with a variety of uses. That said, while we've found ourselves using it around the house, when charging our smartphone, and even once or twice on the treadmill, it's not something you'll feel comfortable using out and about. One of the other uses we were told it would be good for was as a bookmark, and while you can use it to keep your page while you have a quick sip of coffee, it's too bulky and cumbersome to replace a standard bookmark when carrying it about.

The bottom line

Gadgets live or die by how practical they are and in the case of Bondi we've been quietly surprised, as it's more than lived up to its promises. It's not going to change your life but you may well find that it makes things a little easier.
