Lenovo Z570

Monday 12 November 2012

G-Rating

Rating of 4

The basics

The Lenovo Z570 excelled in our Icelandic group test, with a sturdy build and great design, as well as the best trackpad on test - an all important feature of a laptop that's often overlooked by manufacturers. The keyboard is superb, and the battery life reasonable (4 hours 38 minutes). It's the performance that really impresses however: with a 2.5GHz Intel Core i5 processor it's the fastest on test too, offering a lot of bang for your buck.

I too can't find it anywhere for £400. Therefore pointless having it on the programme.

Same issue. What is the point in having a comparison of products when the real price of the winning one looks to be more like £700. Makes it an easy win compared to the others and reflects poorly on the show.

I don't know if this happens to anyone else,, but if you click on the play button on the picture it refreshes the page and starts to play the clip just above it says if you'd like to know where to get the best prices click here but when i do it keeps asking me to sign in ... even though i am.

Where is the laptop reviewed on the programme available for £438.97? Z570 with 8GB RAM and 2.5GHz core i5 750gb HDD. I bet Sony and Toshiba are pleased their products got beat by something that isn't available.

I would reiterate most of the above. Marked on one site as discontinued, so come on Channel 5 gadget show get a grip! At least apologise that your link to where it can be bought is broken and that you tested an older model PC Pro at least tested a model which is available the Z580!

It was a pretty poor review in my opinion no mention if any of the laptops came with restore disks and I expect the Sony actually did as they usually do, if the laptop crashes for some obsure reason you can always put the disc supplied into the dvd/cd drive and recover the operating system to its default settings. no mention of this at all I would rather pay a bit more to get at the very least a driver disc with all the drivers for the memory, processor and sound hardware buy the laptop naked without an operating system which does allow me to save money to spend on extra memory then install my own operating system of choice, isnt it time people were allowed to choose what they want in their lives without all the hidden secrecy of operating systems which are so simple to install onto a computer even a child could do it? over a hundred quid is charged on top of the price of a laptop for the operating system, I know my son works for a big popular electrical chain, buy your operating system online for much less and spend the extra cash on memory the above laptop only won because of its memory capacity. or instal one of the linux based operating systems for free or buy a disk fof it for £3.00 even windows xp service pk3 is free to download these days.gadget mad or not why would people be ignorant to saving money or getting a better deal in this climate?

I am having exact same problem - can not find the Lenovo available anywhere, never mind for as cheap as the Gadget Show suggested. Most websites say it is unavailable or even discontinued - The Gadget Show needs to say something about this or make it clear where you can buy it for that price. It's misleading viewers and does nothing to reinforce the trustworthiness of the show's reviews

I bought 2 Lenovo laptops nearly 3 years ago and have nothing but problems with them. One is currently back with them for repair, 2nd time this year alone, only half the screen is displaying. Had overheating issues and very poor battery life. However, the Gadget Show review made me look again but as with everyone else, Z570 more like £600, bit like the price I paid. I also purchased a 3 year warranty, thankfully for each, as nearly got my monies worth. Although would rather have a working laptop. Gone are the days of IBM. Buyer beware of Lenovo, look at Asus instead.

As an addition, my Laptops came with one button recovery the software being on a hidden partition. This has been one very good, useful feature, so dont worry about that part FRED... As a further point, I think they are very flimsy, so get your hand on one first before you buy.

And finally MARC, if the Z580 is replacement it is nearly £700 for the 8GB version as tested by Gadget Show. Some PC mags ensure manufacturer will have same spec and price models in. Maybe something Gadget Show should consider. Buyer beware.

Just bought this - Lenovo IdeaPad Z580 Core i5-3210M 8GB 1TB DVDRW 1GB NVIDIA Win8 Red £549.98 on Dabs.com but Dabs discount code gives £25 off, Lenovo currently offering £75 cashback on this product too. Going through cashback site (4%) will bring the price to nearer £400 as quoted by The Gadget Show - new model and higher specs! Hope this helps someone.

I've owned this laptop for less than 9 months and I like that the keys are widely spread out, it's a good budget laptop with a Nvidia Geforce Graphics Card, and widely spaced firm typing keys. I run the laptop with Windows 7, so maybe I should have waited until Windows 8 was released. I can upgrade to Windows 8, but I haven't had the time to do so.
