LG M2250D

G-Rating

Rating of 3

The basics

The LG M2250D is a 21.5-inch LCD TV with built-in Freeview and full HD (1080p) viewing. A HDMI port lets you plug in another high-definition device such as a Blu-ray player. USB playback lets you plug in a USB stick to watch movies and share photos to the TV for big screen viewing.

The good

The LG M2250D is a both a great entry point into full HD viewing and a good-sized TV for the bedroom that is easy to set up and offers great picture quality. Colours are bright and clear throughout. For a television you can buy for around £160, performance on the LGM2250D is most impressive, particularly when watching the latest blu-ray films. A 5ms response time helps to eliminate image blur - that means even the fastest Hollywood action sequences will look as they were meant to. HDMI connectivity lets you connect Blu-ray player or a high definition games console such as a PS3 or Xbox 360 so that you can play games in high definition. If you have a spare USB port lying around, stuff it with films, and then insert it into the LG M2250D to view on the big screen. It’s also a great way for others to share movies with you. Freeview channels offering plenty more to watch than the standard terrestrial fare is another bonus

The bad

The LG M2250D is a great little TV, but it’s not quite big enough to experience high definition to the fullest. That said, we’d pick an HD TV over standard def’ any day. However we do wish there were more HDMI ports. At least one more. If used in the bedroom there isn’t enough HDMI ports to be used for more than one games console at once. And then there’s that Blu-ray player. The only option is to constantly swap which of your console or Blu-ray player is connected to the TV each time.

The bottom line

The LG M2250D is a nice entry point into the world of bite-sized high definition viewing, more suited to the bedroom than the living room. More HDMI ports would have made it a must, but otherwise the LG M2250D performs well.
