The basics

The Sony Bloggie Touch MHS-TS20K is a small camcorder that fits in the palm of your hand and shoots full high definition (1080p) and12.8 megapixel stills. Sony’s Bloggie Touch MHS-TS20K is also able to shoot 360 degree video which it stores on its 8GB of internal memory. The Sony Bloggie Touch MHS-TS20K is available in silver, black and pink for a price of £179.00

The good

If there’s one thing we love the most about the Sony Bloggie Touch MHS-TS20K it’s how simple it is to use. There’s a single button on the front for recording video, and two more for snapping still photos and turning the power off. It couldn’t be any easier. Other controls let you choose between different video formats such as 1080p and 720p high definition, while the still photo options let you switch it up from 12-megapixels to 2-megapixels to give extra flexibility when shooting. The addition of 360 degree shooting is much welcomed, if not slightly gimmicky, but nevertheless it’s still very cool. Full 360 degree footage is shot using a ring-shaped attachment that converts video to let you view the footage from every angle.

The bad

The touchscreen interface however isn’t quite as responsive as you might get on some iOS and Android smartphones, with some commands failing to register unless given a second tap. Images might be clear but they lack vibrancy, tending to look rather dull in places. The Sony Bloggie Touch MHS-TS20K might shoot in HD, but don’t expect it to replace full-blown camcorders anytime soon. The autofocus could also do with a little work in darker conditions. There’s a tendency for it to struggle in areas less well lit. Thankfully performance in brighter spaces fares better.

The bottom line

The very practical Sony Bloggie Touch MHS-TS20K is a well made camera with all the options you need and the ability to shoot in full HD, but potential are advised to first check out the competition before committing. There is better out there.
