I am confused. iPhone 3GS is faultless and the best phone yet but only gets 4 Gs even tho it has 5 on other parts of the site. P.S. Jon I can type faster in portrait keyboard than in landscape and on my Mac.

Hi john, I saw you were weaing a rather fetching yellow watch while testing in NYC this week on the show, can you let me know what brand or model it is. I have been looking at purchasing one like it called the Timex WS4 which comes in white, yellow, blue, orange and black, is this the one you were wearing. Many thanks

I don't understand why you haven't included an Android phone on the the pack, considering the new release of the HTC Magic or the up and coming Samsung. I would really like to hear your views on this.

Agree with you on performance with the N97. BUT this device will improve with firmware updates in the future [v11 has made the first step with this!] Apple has taken 3 generations to get to where it is today and still isn't up to modern day common functionality - where's multi-tasking? Battery access? Flash [web]? Plus if the iphone is so wonderful why ony 4G?

Firmware won't fix a unresponsive single touch touchscreen and a slow cpu. And Apple aren't behind they deliberately chose to not multi task so that you don't have 150+ apps draining the speed and battery, or include flash to save speed and battery. Apple uses push so that other apps can send you messages with 1 process instead of like 150+ processes all at once. Don't understand why you would ever want to take out the battery unless to fiddle and play. Anyway I don't see other phone with the features or apps iPhone has.

What if the battery fails? or reaches the end of its life? Is it too much to ask to be able to swop it out oneself? I concur that the cpu/ram in the N97 is poor considering that this is their current flagship N series device, BUT firmware can improve the performance, by optimizing the current device hardware/software. Lets not forget that the cpu/ram on the N97 is similar to the pre-3Gs unit, and yet its performance is not that far behind the 3Gs. iPhone Apps has had 2+ years of evolution so it deserves to have loads of apps - lets face it a lot of the apps are 'gimicky' [nothing wrong with that!]. Symbian/nokia has only just woken up to the fact that individuals wish to/can make their own apps and make them available to the world. Give it another 6-12 months when a more accurate comparison can be made. Multi-tasking can be as simple as having music playing whilst you deal with email/twitter/facebook. I am not anti-iPhone, in fact I still rate it as a design classic which has set the benchmark for others to chase. Competition is good as it keeps everyone on their toes!

Well if it brakes then you need a new battery so you got to order it so doing that is only like 1 day shorter or as fast as sending your iPhone to Apple for a free swap. Anyway I had my original for a year and a half and it didn't brake or diminish at all by which time I got a 3GS. Battery technology is so advanced (at least in Apple) that the batteries virtually never end. BTW Apple is always the best, after 35 years of being no.1 solidly without a millisecond of being 2nd you can say it is a fact. Eventually they will hand Microsoft to the administrators but it seems some of their most revolutionary stuff has come in the recession. Please for gods sake go read about Snow Leopard, it makes your Mac faster instead of slower unlike other OSes (more so Microsoft lol), truly revolutionary core software and firmware.

I think the new HTC Touch Pro 2 should have been included in this test. It is as good if not better than the iPhone 3GS. I've had one for 6 weeks now and it's the best 'smartphone' I've ever owned.

I have to agree with John here (Unlike the Atari/Nintendo). There is nothing more annoying than a new phone with a slow processor. Its probably why most of them crash all the time. Im not a lover of Apple gadgets, but the other phone companies dont seem to give us what we want. A fast reliable phone that doesnt pause/slow down or crash and reset.
