OK I'm a Sci-Fi Nut. I'll admit that. And, for my sins attended a preview of a drama at a convention. At that time there had been no UK pickup agreed. So,how do I set my +box to record it ? Simple, watch primeval, explore the cast and record anything by Adrew Lee Potts. Come back from holiday and find said drama recorded. Thanks to YouTube integration I now have access to cast interviews and blooper reels normally associated with the extras disks on blue ray. This may not be HiDef. But then again, neither were the extras in Skys' Going Postal Blue Ray. Now surely thats better for a first look review rather than a regurgitation of the brochure.

Less channels than Sky? Ah, maybe it doesn't have the crap that nobody watches.... Since this was made virginmedia have done an update which allows BBC content to be viewed both from the backward epg and on demand. Also the buggy bits (which you won't hear me arguing about) are being fixed. Unsure about his speed comparison with sky +. My dad has sky+ HD and it is unbearably sloooow. My tivo box is miles quicker. However, the tivo does take a good few hours (even 24 of them) to fully update that 14 day future and 7 day historical epg, not to mention all that metadata. So if he tested it while it was still updating everything then that would explain the slowness. Personally I think it's the best pvr on the market, and that's with the current bugs.

I have a Virgin Tivo and it is a great machine, it holds a terrific amount of recorded material and I like the interface far more than the Sky+ box which I used to use. There have been one or two small glitches but they seem to be improving with increasing use. I used to use the standard Tivo which is why I was keen to try the Virgin version. A success in my experience.
