Zeebox hits Sky+iPad app: Meet the world’s smartest TV guide

We heard last month the free Sky+ iPad app was set to get Zeebox second-screen skills, and today, that’s finally happened. Read on to find out how your tablet just became the world’s smartest interactive EPG.

Download the new update for Sky+ for iPad and you’ll now be able to get all sorts of extra info on shows while browsing the EPG. Look for the “Powered by Zeebox” tag in the bottom left of the screen; hit the “discover more” option on a show and you’ll be met with all sorts of details pulled from the web, including news, links to buy or watch shows (Including those on Demand 5) and tweets – you can also add your 140 character pearls of wisdom to the discussion straight from the app.

How to turn any TV into a smart TV

Zeebox has had iOS and Android apps for some time now, but this marks the first time its technology has been built into a leading broadcaster’s app – Sky bought a 10 percent stake in the startup from the brains behind BBC iPlayer earlier this year. Strangely, it’s missing from the iPhone version of the Sky+ app – here’s hoping that’s next on the pair’s to do lists.

In the meantime, grab the Sky+ iPad app from iTunes here.
