Xbox Music out this month: So long Spotify?
We knew Xbox Music, Microsoft’s take on music streaming in your living room and on the go, was on the way. But according to a new report, it’s going to arrive as soon as this month, tying in nicely with the launch of both Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. Is it sayonara for Spotify?
The Verge reports that Xbox Music, first announced at the E3 game expo last summer, will launch with Windows 8 on 26 October. There will be subscription offerings, as well as a free, ad-supported service, much like Spotify offers.
Spotify in your browser? It’s happening
According to sources, Xbox Music will be available at first on Windows 8 machines, Xbox 360 consoles via a dashboard update and on Windows Phone 8 devices. Though the company is believed to be working on iPhone and Android Xbox Music apps, these won’t be available at first.
Still, the possibilities for Xbox Music are exciting. Imagine waving through your playlist using Xbox Kinect, or asking it to pause when a song you don’t like comes on.

Use your kinect to flick through your music? I'd rather use a standard controller as it's MUCH quicker AND you won't look like a right prat! As for this service, others have been doing this for quite a while on the xbox..........the gadget show's lack of knowledge strikes AGAIN. duh!
