Wii U delay: Nintendo rushes to ready new console for Christmas
Nintendo said that the Wii U, its next generation video game console, would be out in 2012, but it looks like it’ll be cutting it fine in the UK and Europe. According to a new report, we won’t be seeing the Wii U before December on these shores.
The reliable CVG has heard from sources that the Nintendo Wii U won’t be out until December, rather than the initially planned November. That’s down to a manufacturing problem with the Wii U GamePad, the centrepiece of the device, with a 6.2-inch touchscreen that can stream games to it, and act as a new type of input for games.

The sources says that Nintendo is still pulling out all the stops to get the Wii U out in the US for November in time for Thanksgiving, to maximise sales before Christmas, but that early December is a more likely timeframe on this side of the pond.
Christmas sales are all important for gadget manufacturers, especially when it’s an entirely new platform, and Nintendo’s financials haven’t been looking so good recently – earlier this year, the gaming giant posted its first loss in three decades.
