Virgin TV Anywhere: Free video streaming hits iPhone and laptops today!
We heard about the Virgin TV Anywhere live streaming service set to take on Sky some months ago, but today is the big day. VIrgin’s just set it live, and if you’re a Virgin TV customer, you can use it to check into scores of channels through your browser, or even your iPhone. Read on for all the details.
Live today over at anywhere.virginmedia.com, Virgin TV Anywhere lets Virgin TV customers watch 45 channels, as well as on-demand video from Sky, BBC, ITV, 4oD and Demand 5. Virgin Media TiVo customers can also watch this on the iPhone and iPad, as well as control their box from afar too – and Android app is due next year.
It’s a bold move from Virgin in this brave new world of Netflix and YouView, but it does have some problems. Streaming will only work over Wi-Fi, not 3G, and the channels you can watch live do not include the major terrestrial broadcasters – Sky’s Movies and Sports channels are also not accessible through the app. TV on demand also won’t be available through apps until next year.
Still, if you’re a VIrgin TV subscriber, it’s a useful way to watch your favourite shows when you’re on the go: you can get the iPhone app here. Let us know how you get on with it in the comments below!

Works great, very good quality streaming. The GUI is very nice looking too. Limited to 2 devices registered at anyone time, but this can be changed once a month
