UK Top 10 games chart: Sniper Elite V2 hits top spot, Call of Duty makes comeback!
Looking at this week’s most purchased games, it’s clear the UK’s gaming fans love shooting stuff. Sniper-rifle action game Sniper Elite V2 is the number-one selling game in the UK this week, relegating Prototype 2 to second. And it seems the recent Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 announcement has got fans back in love with Call of Duty. Modern Warfare 3 has returned to the top ten.
Last week’s number one was the gruesome open-world game Prototype 2, where players fight must battle against the infected hordes of New York in the virus-stricken city. The next four places are dominated by EA games: FIFA 12, FIFA Street, Mass Effect 3 and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13.
Seven sequels potentially better than Assassin’s Creed 3
Love for Kinect Star Wars took another knock. The hands-free Jedi simulator dropped a place to seven ahead of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The competition between war shooters Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 took another twist this week because Modern Warfare 3 shot up four places to make the top ten.
The rise in places presumably comes off the back of last week’s Black Ops 2 announcement. A world premiere trailer revealed a new futuristic setting taking place in 2025 with robots, remote-controlled machines and lots and lots of explosions. Don’t be surprised to see Modern Warfare 3 climb further.
