TV more popular on tablets than desktops!
If you’re one of the many gadget lovers who watch television on a tablet you’re in the majority. A study of over 2,500 tablet users has discovered that viewing shows on a tablet is now the preferred way of watching over the desktop and laptop. With being lighter, smaller and with the ability to download lots of on-demand TV apps on-the-go, we’re not in the least bit surprised. Are you a tablet telly addict?

The study, conducted by Viacom in New York and Los Angeles found that out of 2,500 people aged 8-54, the total time spent watching full-length TV shows on tablets amounted to 15 per cent. According to Viacom that makes tablets the preferred choice to watch TV shows over the laptop and desktop.
Desktop and smartphone viewing declined the most. The favoured genres of tablet TV viewers included reality TV, followed by drama, science fiction and sports. The study cites the variety of TV apps available to download on tablets as a contributing factor to our lust for tablet TV viewing, with the most “aggressive tablet users” being users of apps such as Netflix.
Closer to home in the UK, viewers are spoilt for choice. Apps such as Demand 5 lets you catch up on any missed episodes of The Gadget Show on-the-move or on the couch. Services such as Apple TV and AirPlay also encouraged users to favour the tablet. The latter lets you stream downloaded shows and movies from the desktop to an Apple tablet.
And while the TV set it still the best way to view TV, it seems tablet users enjoy multitasking by using their tablets as an accessory to their television by using both simultaneously, just like thousands of viewers recently did using The Gadget Show 360 app. The world-first app let Gadget Show fans discover the first ever glimpse of 360-degree viewing in preparation for The Gadget Show World Tour, starting tonight at 8pm.
