Toshiba TG01 super fast smartphone hits Orange tomorrow

The Gadget Show  Thursday 09 July 2009

Toshiba TG01 super fast smartphone hits Orange tomorrow Orange has the exclusive rights to offer the TG01 in the UK.

Want a smartphone with speed? Well, look no further than the Toshiba TG01, which is the first ever mobile to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor – which runs at a heady 1GHz!

Also sporting a massive 4.1-inch touchscreen and a modded, touch-friendly version of Windows Mobile 6.1, the TG01 hits the streets tomorrow. You’ll have to be an Orange customer to get one though, as it’s exclusive to the network – pick up a 24 month contract at £39.15 a month and you’ll get a TG01 for free.

The large, 800×480 resolution screen means the device is aimed at mobile movie users, much like a PMP, but there’s much more besides, including a 3-megapixel camera, GPS, Wi-Fi and HSDPA for swift web browsing and downloads.

Now if only this had a qwerty keyboard that protected the screen when it was closed... And some more woooomph in the sound would be nice - the one I had demo-ed was just too quiet at full volume to use in noisy environments. Maybe Toshiba still have issues in this sector (following on from the flakey G900 & G910) - sound didn't work on the trial game either..
