Top 5 football boots for the new 2012/13 season

Euro 2012 might be distant memory, but with Team GB set to kick-off at the London 2012 Olympics, and a new football season approaching, it’s time to invest in a new pair of football boots. We’ve picked out five of the very best boots fit for even the best in the world. Get your feet in these.

Worn by some of the best players in the world, these boots are some of the finest money can buy, with technical innovations to better your game. Here they are:

Adidas AdiPure 11Pro

These bright, blue boots helped Spain win Euro 2012. They were worn by no less than Spain midfield engine Xabi Alonso. It has an an ‘ultrasoft’ upper, and a kicking area made from the same k-leather used in so many of Adidas’ top boots, and a decent sweet spot to make hitting those short and long passes as easy as a Spanish tournament winner.

Puma v.1.11

Another boot worn by a champion. Premier League title winner Sergio Aguero wore the Puma v.1.11 earlier this season. It’s a boot built for pace. That means it’s very light, featuring a microfiber upper material and a fit so comfy, the only time you’ll notice them is when your teammates kiss them during your goal celebrations.

Adidas Predator LZ

The second Adidas boot in our top 5, and with good reason. The Adidas Predator LZ were worn by Barcelona and Spain midfield magician Xavi. To make one of the world’s best players perform even better, the Adidas Predator LZ features a ‘Sweet Spot’ with raised ribs for generating spin and pace on the ball, a ‘Drive’ zone for more power, and a ‘First Touch’ zone for encourage better ball contact to leave opponents wondering why the ball is stuck like glue to your magic feet.

Nike GS

When Nike are calling the Nike GS its “deadliest, lightest” boot, you know it has something special. The GS is built for the modern generation of players armed with explosive speed and skill like Brazil’s Neymar, with an asymmetric shape to lock the foot down for better control. The Nike GS is also the greenest, made from material derived from 97 per cent castor beans, and a tongue made from 95 per cent recycled plastic bottles. It’s a marvel both on and off the pitch.

Umbro Geometra Pro SG

The Umbro Geometra Pro SG has been designed to absorb all the pressures on the foot, while delivering better ball control, power, and swerve. Memory foam inside wraps around the foot for increased comfort, while a specially designed surface allows for better performance in wet and dry conditions.

Which boots will you be wearing this season?
