Steve Jobs and the future of Apple: your thoughts!
Yesterday we speculated on the future of Apple in the wake of Steve Jobs’ resignation and suggested some things that we would like to see new CEO Tim Cook tackle once he has arranged his photos on Steve’s old desk.
We had a big response both in the comments of the piece and on our Facebook page so we thought we would share some of the best responses with you today.
First off, there was a great deal of praise and respect paid to Steve Jobs himself. Comments ranged from “Steve Jobs IS Apple” to “The fact he still has the energy to be part of the company is more than admirable.”.
Tom Kelsall over on Facebook summed up several Apple fan’s reaction with “5 Things Apple Need To Do To Survive. 1) Change Nothing, 2) 3) 4) and 5) – See 1)”
Mitesh Kotecha thought that Apple ought to open up the iphone a little – “get flash, allow use of memory cards [and] allow certain jailbreak apps like blacklist.”
Joooooooosh disagreed with our suggestion of a budget iPhone, saying, “Are you kidding? That goes completely against everything Apple has worked for!”
We aren’t quite sure we agree with that, but he/she makes a good point, “Having two iPhones out with different capabilities would just make life harder for app developers and consumers alike.”
Rich Morris agreed, adding, “The reason why apple and Steve were so successful is because they didn’t bow down to pressure like most other companies.”
JakeyJHughes loved the idea of an Apple games console, but Luke Neal was more cynical. “All they have to do to survive is stamp their logo on something and charge £500, the sheep will still lap it up.”
So what do you think, have we seen the best from Apple or is there more to come? Let us know your thoughts in the Comments below.

I think Apple may see a fall in shares, again, profits etc. They could go downhill unless they do something quickly. A TV, Games Console? Ipod 5, Iphone 5, Ipad 3.. ?

Apple will do fine, they have the next 10 years all road mapped out. Steve is still active in the company as Chairman, just Tim Cook is running the day to day operations like he has done before and has been doing since January. Stop whining about this being the end of Apple.

Well from what I'm reading I don't think they can go any further, Steve Jobs is stepping down as CEO. stocks fell by 7%. They have basicly done all they can now. a games console would be awesome, but they tried it once with the "PipPin" and failed... HARD. and knowing apple if they were to bring out a gaming device now it would be the console built in to the TV, which would cost a bomb! Lets hope some new blood will give the company some "phresh" Ideas!

Jobs is a visionary. Apple is full of great engineers and software writers and the rest, but it's not enough. If there is another person who has the visionary drive, let them step up. Apple once forced Jobs out, and loook what happen to it then. Now Jobs is going for ever. It doesn't bode well.

I think apple need to change nothing but just add even more ground breaking teachnology to the products they already have and involve more interfaces such as flash and micrsoft word ect into their devices

Steve Jobs was everything Apple had, he was the glue that stuck it all together. He was (and still is) my role model, and I think Apple need to release #iPhone soon. Every time I saw him release a new product i always thought, doesn't he look a bit weak. HE WILL BE TRULY MISSED, NOT JUST BY APPLE

re Victorias comment about adding flash - perhaps apples products are better (last longer) than other brands because they don't involve the interfaces such as flash, etc?? I think if they leave everything as it is they will do just fine.

I dont think the fact that Steve has stopped running Apples day to day business will reflect in a huge drop in Apple appeal. Tim Cook has taken over and he has been there before. I think some people are hoping this will be the end of Apple but they forget what Apple has brough to us over the last 10 years. Ipod, a truly great mobile music listening system Iphone, how many manufactures have copied and used the format Ipad, this has been massive since its launch and look at the amount of tablets for sale on the market now. Apple has brought new, bold products to the market and will do so for the foreseable future.
