Spotify officially launches on BlackBerry

Spotify on BlackBerry is nothing new but only now has Spotify released an official app on the BlackBerry World app store. Previously, users had to download the service through the browser. Here’s a rundown of what to expect.

It’s taken a while for Spotify to officially reach BlackBerry App World. The service has, after all, has been available on iOS and Android for quite some time.

Windows 8: the next generation of Windows Phone unveiled

The Spotify app for premium users brings all the expected mobile features, including access to millions of songs, offline playlists, the ability to create and sync playlists, search tracks, artists and albums, and receive music from friends.

Spotify for BlackBerry is said to be compatible with the following handsets: BlackBerry 9780 Bold, 9700 Bold, 9300 Curve, 9000 Bold and the 8520 Curve.

BlackBerry-maker RIM has been outlining plans to take on the competition with its new BlackBerry 10 devices. Apps will be a big part of that strategy, so we hope for even more apps to appear on BlackBerry App World.

The first BlackBerry 10 device will ditch the familiar qwerty keyboard for a touchscreen. While some see it as a step forward, others do not. Thankfully, BlackBerry hasn’t forgotten about its keyboard fans. RIM promised that future BlackBerry 10 devices will have a keyboard.
