Sony launches 5in clip-on LCD for DSLRs

Sony clearly believes high-quality video is an increasing part of the appeal offered by DSLRs – so much so that it’s launched a 5in clip-on LCD for its Alpha range of interchangeable lens snappers.
The CLM-V55 offers WVGA resolution, which is actually less than on the digital viewfinders of most of the cameras it’s designed to attach to. But the V55 is more about size and positioning, both of which allow you a more filmmaker-like pose when snapping video on your Sony camera.
It both tilts and swivels, and even comes with a hood to keep the glare out. An on-board speaker lets you hear things as clearly as you’re seeing them, or you can plug in a pair of headphones for a more personal audio touch.
Sony says the V55 is compatible with “most” interchangeable lens cameras, and various camcorders too, and connects to the standard hotshoe via a supplied adapter. We haven’t heard anything about a price just yet, but we’re told the V55 will be launching in March.
