The Gadget Show  Monday 29 March 2010

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 finally launches The long-awaited Xperia X10 launches next week on Vodafone.

It’s been a long six months since Sony Ericsson first lifted the lid on its debut Android smartphone, but finally it’s here. Well, almost: Vodafone has announced that the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 will start shipping from 2 April, and has made it available for pre-order on its website.

The Xperia X10 packs a huge 4-inch touchscreen and a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, alongside an 8-megapixel camera, GPS and Wi-Fi. It’s the first Sony Ericsson smartphone to feature Google’s Android operating system too, although Sony Ericsson’s UX interface sits on top of it.

Its headline feature is Timescape, which brings all your communication – SMS, MMS, email, missed calls, Facebook and Twitter updates – together in one chronologically-ordered view.

Vodafone has made the Xperia X10 available for free on a two-year, £35 per month contract, which includes 900 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of data.
