Sky Go and Sky Sports app for Android, iOS gets juicy feature updates

The Sky Go app for iOS and Android, and Sky Sports app for iPad have been a godsend for many, helping Sky subscribers catch up on missed shows and live sport on-the-go. Now both apps have been updated with extra on-demand content from new channels, a new way to watch F1 races and Ice Cream Sandwich support for Android users. Read on for more info on the extra channels and features.

The cream of the Sky apps is of course Sky Go. The free app delivers on-demand Sky viewing and live TV streaming for Sky subscribers. Android and iOS versions have now been updated with Sky’s Anytime+ service in the Movies and Entertainment category. This means more content from Sky1, Sky Living, Sky Atlantic and Sky Arts 1.

Holly Knill, Product Director for Sky Go, said the update will let customers watch even more of the most talked about shows.

“This update means customers can enjoy some of the most popular shows such as Sky Atlantic’s Mad Men, Veep and hundreds of the latest Hollywood blockbusters, whenever suits them.”

Another addition for Android smartphone owners is the ability to move the app to the SD card to save up phone memory. For now the Sky Go app works on a limited number of Android smartphones, but that should change slightly thanks to the addition of Ice Cream Sandwich support for the newest Android smartphones.

Apple iPad-owning Formula 1 fans can look forward to a new way to watch races. The Sky Sports app for iPad has been updated with a split screen view for F1 races, and the ability to set recordings and reminders directly from the iPad. The updates should be available now, so get updating those apps.

Speaking of updates, Android owners can now access Google Maps indoor navigation. See more at the link below.
