Sky 3D launches 3 April
Sky 3D – showing Premiership action
Sky 3D has been given its official launch date – and it’s coming soon – 3 April to be precise. The channel will kick off proceedings with the Premier League match between Manchester United and Chelsea, showing the match in over 1000 pubs and clubs that have signed up to the service.
The venues have signed up for Sky 3D service and shelled out on 3D-ready sets in a deal with Sky and LG, so punters will be able to don 3D specs and settle down for the big match in a nearby hostelry.
The channel will appear on Sky’s EPG, meaning that anyone with a 3D TV will be able to watch 3D offerings. It’s unconfirmed just what that content is going to be other than footy at the moment though – six premier league matches for this season have been confirmed and Sky says that there will be a range of content that will be rolled out later in the year. But for now viewers will have to make do with promotional snippets.
