Shazam identifies new partner LG
Shazam will debut on LG's Optimus GT540
Music identification service Shazam has signed a deal to pre-load its Android app onto LG handsets worldwide, starting with the LG Optimus GT540.
The Shazam app is able to identify any music you’re listening to by sampling it through the phone’s microphone and checking it against an extensive database. You even get a link to purchase the song on the spot.
The deal with LG will see all new Android-powered LG phones ship with Shazam preloaded, along with a free seven-day trial of the Encore version, which allows unlimited music tagging. At the end of the trial period, users can choose to either pay a one-off £2.99 to continue using the Encore version, or revert to the free version, which is limited to five tracks tagged per month.
Aside from its core identification function, the Shazam app provides links to track and album lyrics and reviews, artist biographies and discographies, tour dates and information and the most popular tagged music via the Shazam Tag Chart.
You can also check out YouTube videos for tagged artists, and share your thoughts and musical moments via Facebook, Twitter, SMS and email.
The Shazam app will add even more value to the already considerable appeal of the budget LG Optimus GT540, which launched earlier in the year. Further handsets will launch in the coming months.
