Samsung Galaxy S3: quad-core confirmed

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is one of this year’s most anticipated handsets, and it has long rumoured to be featuring a quad-core processor. Reports in Korea have now confirmed this. It looks like the Samsung Galaxy S3 really will live up to expectations as one of the fastest phones around. More details on the specs this way.

Confirmation of a quad-core chip comes from Korea Times. The publication reports that Samsung will use “Exynos-branded quad-core mobile application processors” in the Samsung Galaxy S3.

The payoff will be an increase in performance of up to 26 per cent more than the current chip without using too much power. Samsung Galaxy S3 owners can look forward to better battery life as well as the staggering power.

The report follows the alleged leak of what could be the first sighting of the Samsung Galaxy S3 (see above). The Samsung Galaxy S3 will be thinner, and may feature a two two colour scheme. Other reported specs include Android 4.0 (a given) 4.3-inch display and a 12-megapixel camera with full HD shooting.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is is said to be launching in April, next month, so look out for that confirmation when we get it. If any new smartphone can challenge the iPhone, it’s the Samsung Galaxy S3, which will have its own competition in the form of the quad-core HTC One X.

Are you a Samsung Galaxy S2 owner waiting for that all-important upgrade? There’s not long to go now.
