Samsung Galaxy S3 Drive Link: Hands free car app coming to every Android phone
The Samsung Galaxy S3 has a brand new app today, Drive Link. It’s a smart car-mode app that puts everything you need a single prod away in large, easy to read fonts for when you’re on the road. It’s available in the UK now for Galaxy S3 owners, but in a delightful twist, Samsung has also announced it’ll be coming to all Android phones too. Share the love!
If you’ve got a Samsung Galaxy S3, head over to the Samsung Apps store and you’ll find a new free app available to download, Drive Link. Fire it up and you’ll be presented with a simple menu with just a few core options to help make control behind the wheel easier and safer: navigation, music (tunes stored on your phone and internet radio stations through the TuneIn app) and phone.
It’s a lot smarter than it sounds though, as it’ll also pop up with calendar events, and if they have addresses attached, offer them up as navigation points for you. Any text messages with addresses in you also receive while using the app will appear as addresses you can point your built-in satnav to, and any notifications you receive will be read out to you.

You can also use Samsung Galaxy S3 Drive Link to send music over to supported dashboard units and in-car media devices using the MirrorLink connection several auto manufacturers now support (Toyota, Honda, Volkswagen, Daimler, and Hyundai among them), so you can stream songs to your car stereo.
Sounds good? It gets better: the Samsung Galaxy S3 Drive Link app will be released on other Android 4.0 phones in the near future, the company says. So even if you’re sporting a Sony or a HTC, you’ll be able to reap the benefits. Stay tuned – we’ll let you know as soon as it’s released.

Sounds very similar to the vlingo app, which is already available for all android phones, not just the ones running 4.0 ICS, and is free. This app ours also a personal assistant (like apples Siri). I've been using it for over a year and find it invaluable.

Regarding automobile safety, I've recently discovered this NEW smartphone app called TALKLER — EMAIL FOR YOUR EARS. They describe themselves as the FREE smartphone app for heads-up, hands-off, reads-aloud-to-you, voice-controlled email. I recommend checking it out: Facebook.com/Talkler and www.Talkler.com
