Samsung Galaxy Mini 2: budget Galaxy S3 alternative now on sale

Want a Samsung Galaxy on the cheap? Samsung has you covered, with the Samsung Galaxy Mini 2. The latest from the Galaxy stable brings affordable Android telephony to the masses for those unwilling to commit to a pricey contract. And it’s just gone on sale in the UK. If you’re looking for a budget alternative to the Samsung Galaxy S3, read on.

While the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S3 has been making headlines, it’s nice to see that Samsung hasn’t forgotten customers looking for something a little more approachable and budget-friendly.

HTC Desire C: Android’s new budget champion

That’s where the Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 comes in. It’s a budget smartphone built for those that just want the basics, and those looking for that first smartphone purchase. The Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 comes running the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.

It’s not quite the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system you’d find on the Samsung Galaxy S3, but those looking for a cheap smartphone will still find a decent user experience on board.

The Galaxy Mini 2 measures a pocket-friendly 11.9mm thin, and comes with a 3.27-inch HVGA touchscreen, 4GB of storage for photos, videos and music, and a 3-megapixel camera. Again we’re looking at the basics, but that camera should be more than capable for uploading decent quality snaps to your Facebook account. Social butterflies can also look to the ChatON social hub for keeping in touch with friends.

The Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 is available now, so have a look out for it in your local phone retailer. If you’re looking for something a little more ‘advanced’, but still on a budget check out Samsung’s other budget-friendly smartphone, the Galaxy S Advance – a watered down Galaxy S2 at the link below. Which budget smartphone you’ve got your eyes on?
