Renault Clio takes direction

Renault Clio takes direction What do you get if you cross Renault and TomTom? And it's not a satnav with wheels...

Ooh Papa. Ooooooh Nicole. Remember those slightly worrying Renault ads from the late 90s that flirted with “paternal” issues? Well, had naughty Nicole clapped eyes on the new Clio she may well have been cooing all over again, because Renault has kitted it out with a built-in TomTom.

Dubbed the Carminat TomTom, this is the first occasion that TomTom has integrated a satnav system into a car. It’s a top-of-the range system with a massive 5.8-inch screen. As well as the standard satnav features, and speed alert functions it’s also updatable via SD card.

Another nice touch from TomTom and Renault are the integrated controls on the steering wheel, making it easier to change the map when driving, although we would never do that (and nor should you!).

According to Renault, the TomToms will also make an appearance in the Megane range. But the best part about this partnership is the price. Renault says it’s offering integrated TomToms from around £440! It’s enough to make you go “Oooooooh!”
