Pure Jongo: Sonos gets a brand new song streaming rival

Pure’s been broadening its horizons lately, first with its own PVR for your TV, and now with its own wireless stereo speaker system, just like Sonos offers. It’s called Pure Jongo, and as well as coming in lots more colours, it’s a lot cheaper too.

If you’ve ever used a Sonos system, you’ll know how useful it is. A wireless speaker system that lets you play different songs in different rooms at the same time, and control it all from anywhere is a blessing for audiophiles. And now the Pure Jongo offers that tech at a cut price rate.

The product in the Pure Jongo line, the vibrant Jongo S340B wireless speaker, connects over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth and streams music from both your library and the internet, courtesy of Pure’s online music catalogue. You can control it with an app for iOS or Android, or even from one of Pure’s touchscreen internet radios.

For £150, that’s quite the bargain compared to Sonos’ cheapest Play:3 speaker (£260), and if you’re looking to hook up your own speakers, don’t worry: an adaptor is coming out next year. Look for the first Pure Jongo speaker to hit stores next month.

Turns out you need the app running to bridge between your own music connection and jongo.
