PS Vita: Stream more PS3 games on the go now!
Got a PS Vita? Sony’s handheld got a back catalogue boost last week with the arrival of PlayStation One classics from the 1990s, and today, it just got smarter still. Sony’s turned on the Remote Play function for a clutch of PS3 titles, so you can play them from your PS3, on your PS Vita, wherever you are in the world.
If you’ve got a PS Vita and a PS3, you can now play more God Of War Collection for the latter, as well as Ico And The Shadow Of The Colossus Collection, on the go. So long as you’re connected over Wi-Fi, you can pipe the graphics and controls for both beautiful games all over the internet to your PS Vita’s screen.

The gamepad controls have been ported perfectly across, with the L2 and R2 buttons being mapped to the rear touch pad on the PS Vita. The only thing you need to do to activate the option is install the patches for both games on your PS3 now available.
Remote Play is a fascinating and often ignored feature of Sony’s PSP and PS Vita handhelds. It works a little bit like OnLive, streaming all the information from a powerful computer far away (in this case, the PS3 in your living room) to a less powerful handheld (like the PS Vita) so you can get the full console experience wherever you are.
It’s a bit like the game streaming Nintendo’s Wii U tablet controllers will offer, but over a much longer distance. Sony’s had the technology few years, but has been oddly reticent about rolling it out for many games. Hopefully this marks the start of Sony opening up PS Vita to Remote Play in a much bigger way.
