Pioneer SMA wireless speakers first to deliver HTC Connect and Apple AirPlay music streaming

HTC has only just announced its new Connect gadget tech letting you stream music from a HTC device to compatible speakers just Apple’s AirPlay. Now, we have one of the first devices to take advantage in the form of the Pioneer SMA wireless speaker system.

Pioneer’s SMA range is a new set of wireless speakers that work in harmony Apple AirPlay and HTC Connect. There will be three models in total, the Pioneer XW-SMA1, XW-SMA3 AND XW-SMA4.

The smallest model, the XW-SMA1 will also be the cheapest. It features stereo 3-inch speakers and a soft dome tweeter, that also acts as a subwoofer, with bass tweaked for the best possible performance. The idea being that it’s small, yet powerful to enough to make any bedroom sound like a mini concert hall full of tunes from your Apple or HTC device.

Those wanting a little more stamina from their wireless speaker set-up can opt for the XW-SMA3. It has a lithium ion battery that should apparently last a good six hours at reasonable volumes.

If it’s more power you’re after, the XW-SMA4 features a total of five speakers comprising dual 3-inch speakers, a dedicated 4-inch subwoofer, and dual 3/4-inch soft dome tweeters.

UK pricing has been confirmed for the SMA 1 as £249.99, the SMA 3 as £299.99 and the SMA 4 as £349.99, all including VAT. Not bad prices for a couple of great-sounding wireless music speakers, there. Tempted?
