Nokia Lumia 920 and 820: UK release date revealed!

The Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 Windows Phone 8 devices turned heads on their launch early last month, but Nokia had been keeping a precise launch date for the pair under wraps. It’s finally revealed when you’ll be able to get them – but don’t worry, it’s very soon indeed.

Both the Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 are shipping to the UK right now, and will start appearing on shop shelves in early November. The Nokia Lumia 820, with changeable back covers and a 4.3-inch screen, will be available through O2, Carphone Warehouse, Phones 4U and the Tesco Phone Shop.

The flagship Nokia Lumia 920 meanwhile will only be available on EE – and you’ll be able to use its 4G network with it, which launched today. It’s up for sale on the company’s website, priced up at £49.99 with a £41 per month 4G contract. For your money, you get a huge 4.5-inch HD screen as well as a super-fast multi-core processor.

Will the Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 be worth the wait? We put our review of the HTC Windows Phone 8X up yesterday, and if you caught that you’ll know that we found Windows Phone 8 still has some kinks that need to be ironed out – as well as a distinct lack of apps.

But Nokia’s exclusive apps, like free satnav Nokia Drive, could be the clincher. We’ll have full reviews of both phones for you as soon as we can so stay tuned.

What a waste of two great phones.... that 920 is exclusive to EE is just stupid...its not even 4G it will be close but NOT 4G it wont work in Europe because Europe will be 4G like UK not LTE... that 820 phone is O2 Vodafone and Orange on shitty plans ...Its an Internet phone and look at the offers 100mb 250mb and 500mb FFS i used a Gig of downloads on my Nokia x6 in 2days this month what did it cost me Nothing cause i'm on Three oh and its a pay monthly sim at £12.50pm... I have been waiting 2months for these phones to hit the market and to be disappointed is not what i was expecting..Not sure how Nokia or Windows are going to compete with Apple or Android if this is the way they launch the best product either has come up with in almost a decade.. was gutted enought that the 920 doesn't have a micro sd slot and a fixed battery why oh why can't they just get the products right first time Muppets

The release date is "early November". Anything more specific?

stickstephen, I'm pretty sure the 920 will be available sim free and on Phones4U on other networks. So EE isn't the only option.

I still don't know when it will be released other than the ridiculously expensive EE. It is a phone I have been looking forward to for as long as its been rumoured, The weight of the phone doesn't bother me, the lack of expandable memory doesn't either, who needs more than 32gb anyway? Do they actually want to install the marketplace? But to give exclusive rights to EE is going to bite them in the backside. Can I wait till 2013 for my chance to own it other than paying £400+? Probably not Come on Nokia if you want to own more than 3% in the phone market pull your finger out.
