Nokia 808 PureView slips again, Amazon listing confirms June 30 release
Nokia’s much delayed 808 PureView 41-megapixel camera-toting smartphone was earlier reported to be arriving this week, but that no longer appears to be the case. The latest Amazon.co.uk listing confirms a June 30, 2012 release, not June 21st. That still isn’t long to wait, but will the £500 price tag be worth it?
The Nokia 808 PureView was originally destined for an April launch, but like its predecessor the Nokia N8, the 808 PureView is suffering from similar delays, pushing its release to June 30th.
Nokia takes on Android with cheap as chips Windows Phones
That is, according to an Amazon.co.uk page, pricing the 41-megapixel cameraphone at a none too modest £499.98. Nokia has yet to confirm an exact UK release date, and there appears to be confusion over when we’ll be able to get our hands, but customers can at least pre-order the 808 PureView and await more information when it arrives.
With other stores and phone retailers such as Carphone Warehouse less eager to put a date on the 808 PureView, Nokia fans are advised to keep an eye on Amazon.co.uk – a site with a bit of a record of listing release dates before they’ve been made official.
The Nokia 808 PureView grabbed headlines due to its 41-megapixel camera, and PureView imaging technology capable of producing images with no loss of detail from zoom.
Its impending release has been met with both admiration of its camera skills, and criticism of its Nokia Belle operating system, which some say is now looking dated compared to Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android operating system as seen on devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S3.
