New Xbox 720 out Christmas 2013 with Blu-ray and built-in Kinect!
As E3 2012 draws closer so do rumours of the next generation of home consoles. A new report suggests that the next Xbox console has been confirmed for a Christmas 2013 release, with a Blu-ray drive, built-in Microsoft Kinect.
Just recently it was claimed that the next Xbox ditch the disc drive and go all digital. The latest report from VG247 suggests otherwise, stating that it will in fact have a Blu-ray disc drive to play games and high definition films.
Speaking specs, VG247 cites multiple sources, informing that the machine will have two GPUs, and be equivalent to AMD’s 7000 series GPUs, but “not CrossFire or SLI”. It will be “like two PCs taped together.”
The report goes on to say that there will be “four or six” cores to the Xbox 720 CPU, one for Kinect, the other for the operating system.
Like the rumoured PlayStation 4 “Orbis” the new Xbox will also introduce anti-piracy measures using an always-on internet connection. Microsoft continues to neither deny or confirm reports of a new Xbox console, yet those rumours keep on coming.
Whichever way it’s looked at, new Xbox movements are happening, and there’s still hope of some form of announcement this year. While that doesn’t look like happening, that 2013 release date is looking more likely.
Is 2013 the right time for a new console generation? The PlayStation 4 is also thought to be arriving in 2013. Which will you go for?
