New iPod and Apple TV coming 7 September?
New versions of the iPod incoming?
Is a new iPod coming our way next month? According to a reliable source Apple’s Autumn iPod refresh event will be taking place on 7 September – and that all-new Apple TV will be sharing the stage too.
Major news agency Bloomberg is reporting that an Apple event is going to be held on Tuesday 7 September in San Francisco. Apple has traditionally held an event around this time of year to launch its new iPod range, so this seems like a distinct probability, despite any official nod from Apple as yet.
The biggest excitement is the talk of a new iPod Touch – perhaps packing a massive 5MP camera and front-facing camera for FaceTime chat. There’s also likely to be a couple of tweaks to the design and Retina display.
As far as Apple TV goes, sources say that Apple is in discussions to offer Fox TV shows for 99 cents rentals, available 24 hours after first air. No mention of streaming is made, but it seems likely this will be the method, as a smaller hard drive will be on board.
What do you think will go down on 7 September? What would you like to see in the new iPod range? Let us know below…

Apple will doubtless launch some halfhearted semi upgraded kit, and then 6 months later launch the kit it should have done in the first place, thus relieving the brainwashed Applefans of more of their cash as they blindly buy again. And since when has a 5MP camera been massive, except for Apple that is? 2005!!

September or even pre Christmas is too soon for iTV. The network infrastructure isn't in place yet to support the volume of streaming needed into peoples homes. The only way bt vision can get away with it is by prioritising traffic. Yes Apple will beat Google to Market with a swish looking product. But will it be usable? Well done Channel 5 for rejoining Project Canvas, but who wants it? Bt and virgin have their own solutions to provide content and network - why buy separately? Ps. iPhone nano next year ;)

What I would buy for £75 is: iTV with iplayer, demand 5, 4od, itvplayer built in, iTunes sync up, a 320gb pvr, twin hd tuners, TV apps, hdmi 1080p upscale and a decent remote. But that won't happen on 7th September :(

Id like to see some usb capabilities on the ipod and the ipad and also i think it would be great if i could use a magic mouse on both of thembecause i think jailbreaking them is wrong.

The best thing about an Apple launch is the month of speculation before it. Here are some of my faves so far: 1) An iOS upgrade for existing appleTVs, all the features plus the existing hardware. 2) Apps - all those HD ipad games on your 50 inch HDTV. 3) Full Safari browser app and web surfing (still no flash) on the TV with a new remote.
