Metal Gear Solid “authentic stealth” hits in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

At the VGA awards Metal Gear Solid mastermind Hideo Kojima revealed a new trailer for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance – the game many thought would be a stealth follow-on from the Metal Gear Solid series. It wasn’t. It was something totally different, and much more action-oriented without the stealth fans expected. A true Metal Gear Solid game is coming, Kojima has promised.

Metal Gear Solid has been a phenomenon ever since the 1998 version of the game launched on the original PlayStation console. Its stealthy gameplay saw it become a major hit up to now.

Gears of War maker’s next game is called Fortnite

So when fans got to see the Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance trailer this week, it worried fans that future Metal Gear Solid would be too action-focussed. It is also the first Metal Gear game not developed by Kojima Productions.

Instead, Bayonetta developer Platinum Games is taking charge to deliver a more frantic game than originally planned. The trailer showed Metal Gear Solid character Raiden hacking and slashing his way through enemies, running at them and taking on large robots.

It might be unlike any other Metal Gear game, but Hideo Kojima has since reassured fans to take it easy. An ‘authentic’ Metal Gear Solid game is on the way, he said as he urged fans to be patient.

Naughty Dog reveals new game called The Last of Us

“For those of you desire for authentic stealth MGS, I want you to patiently wait for the sequel coming in future,” Kojima confirmed from his personal Twitter account.

As for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, little else is known about the game, but we do know that main character Raiden will take on enemies the sizes of buildings using little else but a trusty katana blade. And that it’s not a stealth game.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will release on PS3 and Xbox 360. A date has yet to be confirmed.
