LG PenTouch TV revealed - anyone fancy a 50-inch tablet?
Led by smartphones and tablets, we’re seeing more and more touchscreen gadgets these days. LG wants to get in on the action with its upcoming range of TVs, although we’re yet to be convinced that it will appeal to anyone other than your youngest children.
The LG PenTouch TV does pretty much what it says on the tin, letting you control features and interact with the TV using a stylus. You’ll be able to draw huge pictures (it’s a 50-inch panel!), manipulate digital photographs and lots of other things associated with touchscreen displays.
According to Jay Vandenbree, LG’s Senior VP, “The PenTouch TV brings all the excitement of touch displays, computers and the Internet to the world of television, with functions and programs that are great fun and really educational”.
There are a couple of issues for us, however. Firstly, you’ll be needing to run a dual-core PC alongside the LG PenTouch TV (we’re not sure if it works wirelessly not not) and it’ll need a fairly decent GPU at that.
The other minor issue? Well, would you really want your five year old halfling putting greasy fingerprints and scratching a pen across your one thousand pound 50-inch TV? We’re not sure we would. Take the child out of the equation, and we can imagine most people sticking to remote controls, and drawing, manipulating photographs and suchlike on their tablets!
Let us know what you think. Touchscreen TVs: A good idea or not?

Clever but pointless, a TV tablet?

It would be better if you had the TV and a Tablet that was wirelessly connected to the TV so you could interact with the TV on the tablet from the comfort of your chair. who wants to kneel in front of the TV and scribble all over the screen it would be uncomfortable hurt your eyes, then you would have to clean the screen before you watch any programmes as there would be lines all over the Screen.

Good idea but isn't the beauty of a remote not having to press anything on the TV itself?
