LG Optimus duo dated for release LG's budget-beating new Android duo

LG has launched the Optimus One and Optimus Chic, a pair of new Android-powered handsets to expand its new entry-level smartphone line.

We first heard mention of the duo back in July, but LG has now filled in the details – including a UK release date.

Both handsets feature a 600MHz processor to do the heavy lifting and a 3.2in touchscreen, and come pre-loaded with a host of Google services. The Optimus One lists a long-life battery and a 3MP camera in its fairly limited feature set, while the Optimus Chic – as the name suggests – is more of a style-conscious handset, and comes with a 5MP camera and DLNA support but a more limited battery life.

There’s still no word on price, but it’s safe to assume this entry-level duo will be among the most affordable smartphones around. The Optimus One goes on sale next month, with the Optimus Chic following in November.

The pair take their place alongside the Optimus GT540 at the affordable end of LG’s smartphone spectrum. LG says the Optimus line won’t be platform-specific, and that non-Android handsets will be introduced in due course.
