LG Nexus 4 coming 29 October?

Is the LG Nexus 4 just two weeks away from shop shelves? The rumours have been coming thick and fast that the South Korean gadget giant is building the next flagship Android smartphone for Google, and now as a first image, we believe we’ve got a launch date too. Read on for all the details.

According to French newspaper Le Figaro, the LG Nexus 4 Android super phone will go on sale on 29 October. For those keeping count, yes that’s exactly the same day as a big Windows Phone 8 launch shindig Microsoft has planned.

How to get the new Android update now

Earlier this week, we caught some of the supposed specs for the LG Nexus 4, including a HD screen, 2GB of memory and a super fast quad-core processor. Why the name though? It’d be the fourth Nexus Android phone overseen directly by Google, after HTC’s 2010 Google Nexus One and Samsung’s Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus phones.

Based on the leaked images, including this one from a Russian blog, the LG Nexus 4 won’t be much of a looker compared to the curvaceous HTC One X+ or unbelievably light iPhone 5. Does that matter though? Let’s hear your thoughts in the comments below.

Well, if this is the case, 2GB will certainly make the difference...Jelly Bean right out the box? Or the newer version (if they can get their act together, not sure what the "v5" will be called, but some dessert offering, they can't go back on this naming convention now). I'm still waiting for Samsung to get their act together...come on, give us the goodness of JellyBean! Oh, as a side thought, I hope this phone is good, since I had three, yes three, stock android phones and they were all crap! Pictures were useless, they were slow and all other manner of madness. Bought from Amazon, had to send it back and get a refund. Happy with my S3. Let's see what this gives...hope BlackBerry are taking note, since they've got nothing so far, so next year will be a big make-or-break time for them...watch this space I guess

Maff

Only 8Gb internal memory and only 8megapixel camera comapred to the new LG Optimus which is 32Gb memory and 13mp camera, bit of a step down, let's hope it keeps the price down then too. I'll be getting one because I stick with the nexus phones for quick OS updates.
