iRobot Roomba 790: the robot vacuum cleaner that thinks its a toy

We’ve always been big fans of iRobot’s Roomba vacuum cleaners. Why spend time vacuuming the house, when a robot will do it for you? The iRobot Roomba 790 is the next generation of Roomba dirt munchers. This time packing a wireless remote control, letting owners steer the robot cleaner like a toy. Is this the most fun vacuum clear ever made? It just might be, at a price.

iRobot’s most advanced Roomba yet lets users operate the Roomba 790 using a wireless Command Center that lets users steer it around the room from the comfort of your sofa. Far from daunting, the interface is thoughtfully designed for ease of operation. A giant ‘Clean’ button that’s impossible to miss sets the Roomba off and on its way.

Should you wish to take the reigns, the controller features direction buttons to help you navigate its way around obstacles you otherwise wouldn’t trust it not to knock over (that precious vase for instance).

The ability to schedule cleaning times means you can also set it to get to it to clean by itself for those times when you’re too busy to lift a finger, or when you’re not at home. The Roomba 790 will settle home in its dock once your living quarters are spick and span.

Using its iAdapt Responsive Cleaning Technology, the iRobot Roomba 790 claims to remove up to 98 per cent of dirt, dust and pet hair.

It’s definitely the most exciting vacuum cleaner we’ve laid eyes on, but it comes at a price. The iRobot Roomba 790 is on sale now from iRobot for the cost of £799.
