iPhone 5: UK sale date revealed!
We’re expecting to see the iPhone 5 get a full reveal at Apple’s press conference in San Francisco on Wednesday evening, but another piece of the puzzle has already fallen into place. Sources have revealed the exact date you’ll be able to buy Apple’s primed new smartphone – and it’s soon, too.
According to Mobile News’ sources, the iPhone 5 will go on sale in the UK (and US) on Friday 21 September, just a week and a half after the big reveal. Apple stores will get a one day head start, with other major retailers stocking the iPhone 5 from 22 September.
iPhone 5: Radio streaming tech to take on Spotify?
Based on Apple’s previous track record, that seems spot on: Apple often releases new iPhone models on a Friday a fortnight or so after its first announcement. Of course, what we don’t know still is what to expect from the iPhone 5. Rumours suggest it’ll pack a larger 4-inch screen, thinner body and smaller docking port, but we still don’t know for sure.
We’ll find out on Wednesday: in the meantime, let us know if you think you’ll be queueing up on day one for an iPhone 5, or pointing and laughing from the other side of the street.

i've been waiting months for the release of this and hope to get one on release day.....however there are still a couple of sticking points...... 1) the price of the handset, even on contract is rumoured to be a tad expensive!!! 2) whether it has 4G capabilities from the off (regardlees of network availibility) or if this feature will only be included in a later manufacturing run????

New dock connectors happen to Samsung all the time . But it's pathetic that this connector that works with 99.alot% of technology will become obcelite .apple won't go near NFC even thought they keep buying all the patents, they never try anything new ! When my contract is up. I'll be leaving apple for a good few years untill they entice me back. With a cheep multi use phone. Instead of £500 for an improved phone over and over . iPhone 5 . Then the 5s with a better camera ......etc

Preordered or purchased every iPhone version on launch so far and that's not about to change anytime soon. Whilst Samscum and others have copied as much as they can, one thing none of them have or even intend to do is copy the build quality and materials (because it costs) and that's what makes Apple unique. To those that still comment on pricing, all new handsets have a price tag circa £400-£500 as the unsubsidised price! Subsidised handset pricing by networks has confused a lot of people over the years thinking phones cost next to nothing, Duh!

Drh, im sorry but thats it so untrue, HTC, samsung and nokia have very good build quality and a style that is unique to every range of phone they builds. I like apple dont get me wrong but saying also that the iphone costs anywhere like 500 pound + retail price to build is idiotic. You have to admit that they are ripping there customers off in some respects e.g 100 pound plus for another couple of gigs of ram in a macbook to what you can pick up for 15 quid is too far.The only reason apples sell like they do is desireand being seen as a luxury product. Apple wouldnt put the price down because if they did even more people would have access to them and reduce the desirabillity further.

I will not be bothering with the so called latest incarnation from the Apple stable. I recently moved to the Samsung Galaxy S3 from an IPhone and what a refreshing change to not be dictated to over what I can and cannot load onto something that I own. As for stupid legal fights over double tapping to open apps etc well i'm sorry but I have been doing that for years using my mouse and on my touchscreen pc screen so how can Apple own that. Admit it Apple, Samsung, HTC and Motorola have all far exceeded the overpriced lacklustre *S & *GS so called updated models you have been farming out. You need to do something really exceptional to win back my custom and even then I don't think I could live with the totallitarian restrictions that you apply.

I will be going for a Galaxy S3 this time. Fed up with iTunes and Apple copyright bollocks. If I pay for music I own it, i dony want to buy a track and then if I want it as a ringtone to pay again. I dont want to pay £25 for a cable. I have both iphones and galaxy's the build quality is not an issue. Not being able to view a flash video on website is also nonsense. If you actually read what Apple are claiming in the various lawsuits they are no longer credible in my eyes. They are a wealthy bully, I look forward to Google / Motorola giving Apple a bloody nose. I like innovation whoever its made by - i don't like a company in a dominant position trying to stifle competition

Drh, actually most high end smartphones cost more to make than the iPhone. http://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/what-iphones-cost-to-make.html

So do they release the ipods, nanos and so on at the same time?? Why is there no news on these? Are they not going to be renewed? And isn't it going to be 'The I-Phone' rather then IP5 which was actually the IP4S in disguise.
