iPad Mini, the Nexus Android invasion and ultra HD tech galore: Gadget Digest
It’s hard to believe that Friday has rolled around once more already, but here we are. If you’ve been so busy you’ve not been able to keep up with all the tech talk this week though don’t fear: we’ve got all the top headlines rounded up for you right here in one place. Read on for your Gadget Digest.
iPad Mini: Save the date!
It’s been almost three years since Apple launched an entirely new category line and now it looks like it’s about to do it again. This week, the company sent invites out to journalists inviting them to a press conference in California on Tuesday, strongly hinting at the iPad Mini we’ve all been hearing about in the process. Expect all the details on the Nexus 7 rival next week.
The Nexus invasion force prepares

It’s not just Apple with a new tablet to show though. Oh no. Google also revealed its plans to hold a press conference this month, where we’re expecting to see everything from the LG Nexus 4 turbo smartphone to a new version of Android, Key Lime Pie, and even a 10-inch Nexus tablet. Will that £60 7-inch tablet debut too?
Microsoft makes moves

Microsoft’s biggest week ever begins on Monday, as it begins to roll out not just Windows 8, but Windows Phone 8 and even its very first tablet. Ahead of that, the software giant revealed its pricing for the Surface slate, and put it up for pre-order. Will it be better than an iPad? We took a look – but you can bet Acer is hoping it can out do Microsoft with its own touchscreen Windows gear.
Super sharp gear unleashed

It’s been a week of records when it comes to resolution too. HTC stunned the world by unveiling the world’s first full HD phone, with a crystal clear 1080p display that makes the iPhone “Retina Display” look as blocky as a game of tetris. GoPro meanwhile unveiled its first pocket action camcorder which can shoot in 4K – yes, that’s right, twice as sharp as full HD.
Racing games galore
It’s been a busy week in gaming, but especially in the racing genre. Several top new titles are revving up for release on the starting grid right now, and we got hands on with them in our video previews this week. Check out F1 Race Stars and Forza Horizon in the clips below!
