iPad Mini rolling off the pipeline now!
The rumours are just coming too thick and fast now for there not to be any truth in them: the Apple iPad Mini is coming, and it’s coming soon. The latest report, from the venerable Wall Street Journal, says that Apple’s answer to the Google Nexus 7 and the Amazon Kindle Fire HD has started production.
According to two of the newspaper’s sources, production for the iPad Mini displays started last month, which ties in well with other reports that an event and release date are scheduled for this month. The sources state that the LCD display will measure 7.85-inches across diagonally, and unsurprisingly won’t be quite as sharp as the eye-popping 2048×1536 Retina Display on the third generation iPad.
iPad Mini vs Nook HD vs Amazon Kindle Fire HD: Tablet group test!
Questions remain though: will the iPad Mini run apps in any meaningfully different way to the current iPads (in the same way iPhone apps are different to iPad apps, say)? And just how much will an Apple iPad Mini cost? Surely not as little as the £159 price point Asus’s Google Nexus 7, Barnes & Noble’s Nook HD and Amazon’s Kindle Fire HD are all hovering around.
We’ll have more for you as soon as you get it. In the meantime, tell us here: how much would you be prepared to pay for an Apple iPad Mini?
