iPad Mini: October release will beat Microsoft Surface to shops
The much rumoured iPad Mini, a seven or so inch version of Apple’s massively popular tablet computer, is reportedly due to be announced next month. That’s not all though: the iPad Mini is already rolling off factory pipelines, so it looks like it could go on sale next month too. Does it spell trouble for Microsoft Surface and Windows 8?
According to Taiwan’s Economic Daily News, the iPad Mini has now entered into production. That means factories across the East will likely be working around the clock to stockpile enough of the devices to flog in time for Christmas.

That’s a big shift from when Apple originally launched the iPad: it announced it a full two months in advance, but with this iPad Mini version (some pundits have also taken to calling it the iPad Air) it looks like Apple will be mimicking its iPhone 5 strategy of shipping them straight away.
Given that the Windows 8 Surface tablet is expected to go on sale in late October or early November, that could cause Apple’s arch-rival Microsoft some serious concerns. Could Apple kill the Surface with a cut price iPad Mini before it ever got off the ground?

On the day the iPhone 5 was announced I noticed that apple accidently put the ipad price as £249 on the apple store.
