iPad Mini event: Super small MacBook Pro incoming too!

Word on the web is that the iPad Mini will be unveiled next week at a press event in California. But as ever with Apple, it looks like it’s going to have “one more thing” to show off. According to a new report, a souped up, super thin 13-inch MacBook Pro is on the way, with an eye popping display.

9to5Mac, a reliable source for all things Apple, reports that Apple will also unveil a new version of the 13-inch MacBook Pro. It’ll pack the same thinner enclosure as the 15-inch Retina Display MacBook Pro, as well as a much sharper screen worthy of Apple’s “Retina Display” moniker: in other words, it’ll be so crystal clear you won’t be able to make out individual pixels.

Nook HD, Kindle Fire HD, Nexus 7 and more: Seven inch tablets explained

The report says that the current 13-inch MacBook Pro “fat” (Steady now) will stay on sale, but does not say how much more the super thin 13-inch MacBook Pro will cost. With only a week to go though, we won’t have long to wait.

We found the 15-inch Retina Display MacBook Pro to be a stunning upgrade, though not one for everyone given the huge £1,799 starting price. A smaller version could change that for workaholics finding that the wafer thin Air just isn’t powerful enough still. Stay tuned for more as we get it.

Can a £60 Nexus Android tablet invasion stop the iPad Mini?
