Instagram-alike Facebook Camera app for iPhone and iPod Touch

Facebook has released its new, and free Facebook Camera app for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The new app makes sharing photos with Facebook friends faster and easier, says Facebook, and lets users apply filters to their shots ala Instagram, the company Facebook recently purchased for $1 billion.

Uploading and sharing Facebook photos can tend to be a little chore-some. It is hoped that Facebook camera will take the pain out of doing so. The new app lets users share multiple photos faster, with applied effects for those that want to add a little creativity to their snaps.

50 million Instagram users can’t be wrong

The ability to share multiple photos is likely to go down well. Previously, Facebook users have only been able to upload and share one photo at a time.

With Facebook Camera, you can share multiple shots by going into your photo album, and tapping on the photos you wish to share. A green tick appears to confirm your choices, also giving your the chance to add captions, and tag friends before sharing. Facebook Camera also lets you crop and rotate photos, but it’s the ability to apply filters that catch the eye.

Facebook recently announced that it is to purchase Instagram – the company behind the world’s most popular photo-sharing app, popular for letting users apply all sorts of retro filters to photos. Now Facebook has the feature itself, although it appears that Facebook Camera was independently developed by Facebook, rather than Instagram.

Facebook Camera is free to download right now from the Apple App Store to work on iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. Have you tried it yet?

Facebook Camera is just the latest new service from Facebook, following the announcement of the new Facebook App Center – a new application store from Facebook that for the first time will sell paid Facebook apps. Hit up the link below to find out more about how we’ll soon be purchasing apps from Facebook.
