HTC One X: Android Jelly Bean update out next month!
The HTC One X is one of our favourite smartphones this year, even if Samsung’s Galaxy S3 and Apple’s iPhone 5 have snaffled up much of the media attention. And now it looks set to get even better: a reliable source says that the Android 4.1 “Jelly Bean” update for it kicks off next month!
According to Paul O’Brien, the well respected developer and founder of the MoDaCo smartphone forums, the HTC One X Android Jelly Bean update will begin rolling out in October. That’ll be for unlocked devices not attached to a specific network (So, if you bought it SIM-free or through a reseller, say) – network updates will take a little longer, but should hopefully be completed by Christmas.

O’Brien also says that the rumoured upcoming HTC One X+ phone will come with Android Jelly Bean pre-installed, and the 4G HTC One X headed to EE will as well. What he doesn’t know yet is when the same update will land for the HTC One S, which HTC has confirmed will be tasting Jelly Bean.
What’s the big fuss about Jelly Bean? It packs in some clever new features, including speed boosts to eliminate lag, a new predictive keyboard and Google Now, Google’s voice controlled app that feeds you information based on your location and calendar without you having to ask.

The HTC One X is an awesome smartphone, although the last update, though full of features, did reduce the wifi signal significantly, so I hope this is addressed. It is a shame Samsung stole the thunder - given the specs are almost identical, their superior marketing payed off. I just hope this doesn't affect continuing updates and support from HTC and the related UK carriers.
