HTC adds Best Deals to Android and Windows Phone: Bargain hunting on the go!

HTC’s two new Windows Phones, the Windows Phone 8X and the Windows Phone 8S, go on sale next month. We noted when we checked out early prototypes of the pair that HTC hadn’t added much, or anything, in the way of exclusive software, unlike Nokia. It turns out it has been working on something though: a new Best Deals apps which pulls together local daily deals for you and alerts you to them when you’re nearby!

Both the Windows Phone 8X and 8S will come loaded with a Best Deals apps that will show you local deals, pulled from LivingSocial, Trip Advisor, Qype Deals and Offerum. There’ll be 1,700 deals available at launch, from restaurant discounts to holidays.

HTC will also be rolling out Best Deals to Android users: it will come preloaded on the upcoming HTC One X+ when it goes on sale, and rolled out to the One X and One S in future, presumably alongside the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update due any day now.

Of course, whether a daily deals app is enough to lure users to HTC remains to be seen. The company’s just reported a grim quarter with drastically reduced operating profit, with Samsung gaining yet more ground on Android, and Nokia’s stunning Drive and Maps apps making it the go to if you want Windows Phone. What do you reckon? Let’s hear your thoughts in the comments below!
