Halo 4 landing 6 November, Master Chief is back

The next chapter in the Halo series Halo 4 will hit the shops on 6 November 2012. Microsoft says that Halo 4 marks a new beginning for the series, in a story set four years after the events of Halo 3. That means more action for its gun-toting spacesuit-wearing protagonist Master Chief.

Speaking about the launch of halo 4, a Microsoft rep stated, “Master Chief returns to confront his destiny and face an ancient evil that threatens the fate of the entire universe,”

7 gaming sequels potentially better than Assassin’s Creed 3

To date the Halo games have sold over 40 million worldwide and while Halo 4 was originally thought to be the final instalment, Microsoft is already preparing for “the next decade of ‘Halo’ games and experiences”.

Amid rumours of a new Xbox ‘720’ console, Microsoft hopes that 2012 will be “the most successful year in Xbox history”. A November release means Halo 4 will meet some tough competition.

The eleventh month of the year has been a traditional battleground for games, with publishers keen to get the big names out in time for Christmas. For the last three years a new Call of Duty game has been released in that same month, while Assassin’s Creed 3 currently awaits an 31 October release. Its going to be another cracking run up to Christmas for gamers.

So what do you think, does Halo 4 have the chops to go up against Call of Duty? Which will you choose? Let us know in the Comments below.

Is Halo the most successful first-person shooter ever?
