GoPro Hero 3 action sports cam leaps to eye popping 4K

The guys behind GoPro have managed to take time out from jumping off cliffs and cycling down vertical drops to bring us the GoPro Hero 3, their latest action sports video camera. For the first time, you’ll find Wi-Fi on board to stream the action, but it’s the staggering 4K filming option that really has our adrenaline pumping.

You see, though the GoPro Hero 3 black edition may be smaller than its predecessors, it shoots at up to 4K resolution – yes, twice full HD – as well as 12 megapixel still shots in rapid fire 30 frames per second burst mode.

Much like its latest rival, the Ego sports camcorder, the GoPro Hero3 also packs in Wi-Fi, so you can see what’s being filmed from an iPhone or Android smartphone or tablet. But it also lets you control the camcorder from afar as well, and comes bundled with a Wi-Fi powered remote that can control up to 50 of the critters at once (We should be so lucky).

Alongside the £359 GoPro Hero 3 black, the company’s rolled out two cheaper options. The £279 GoPro Hero 3 silver edition takes 11 megapixel snaps and sticks to full HD recordings, while the £199 white edition only takes 5MP shots with its full HD video. Both pack the same Wi-Fi skills as the black model, though not its extra remote control in the box.

Intrigued? The GoPro Hero 3 line is headed to stores now, so look for it on shelves very soon.
