Google Nexus 7 tablet: Asus has you covered

Those looking to get hold of the Asus Google Nexus 7 tablet announced last week will be able to pick up any of six colourful cases and covers for the tablet at launch. With its 7-inch display, chances are you’ll want to take it everywhere with you, so here’s the lowdown on the new covers just unveiled by Asus.

The new covers were unveiled via the official Asus Twitter account, accompanied by the message “And we’ve got things covered. #Nexus7”.

Asus Google Nexus 7 tablet unveiled: what you need to know

An image teases the six bright wraparound-style covers that protect the Asus Nexus 7 like a book cover, and fold back like a magazine when using the Nexus 7. The colours available (pictured) will include black, turquoise, grey, orange and blue.

Asus has yet to reveal a price or any further details about the covers, but it looks as if the tablet covers could be available at launch. The Asus Google Nexus 7 tablet itself is also waiting for a firm UK release date, despite being available to pre-order from Google Play.

According to the Nexus 7 product page, those who pre-order can expect shipping to commence in two to three weeks, which is when we could expect to see the covers also hit the shops.

The Asus Google Nexus 7 tablet was unveiled last week as a potentially more budget-friendly alternative to Apple’s iPad. Prices begin at £159 for an 8GB version, rising to £199 for a 16GB model. Will you be picking one up?
